Liverpool Commercial District Partnership sign up first members

The formation of the Liverpool Commercial District Partnership (LCDP) announced in the national and local press last week (week beginning 2 May 2006) has evoked considerable interest and pledges of support from Liverpool's business community.

A number of organisations including Albany Assets, Shepherd Construction and Merseytravel have pledged financial support even before the inaugural meeting has taken place.

Chris Nisbet Chairman of Albany Assets who own Albany Building and Irwell Chambers within the Partnership area commented, "The response to last week's article in the Daily Post about the formation of the Partnership has been overwhelming. We have been inundated with requests for information and pledges of support. There is a real will for this initiative to succeed within the city. We are sending out invitations for key stakeholders to attend but would welcome any interested parties attending the meeting at the Racquets Club on 15 May".

The inaugural meeting will take place at Liverpool's Racquets Club on Tithebarn Street in the city centre on Monday 15 May 2006 at which Acting Partnership Director Paul Rice and Acting Chairman Chris Nisbet will discuss their aspirations for the Partnership.

Inspired by the success of the Piccadilly Partnership in Manchester, a number of key stakeholders within Liverpool's commercial district have come together and aim to create a body that will strive to improve the trading environment, encourage investment in the area and work with public sector partners to maximise the unique opportunities that the next few years will offer the City of Liverpool.

The re-establishment of the city's Commercial District as a thriving business location is a key objective as Liverpool strives to become a premier European City. Liverpool Vision's strategic Regeneration Framework identifies the area as an "opportunity to re-define and re-position its role in the commercial market place."

The establishment of the LCDP will position stakeholders at the forefront of this ambition, ensuring in the process that they achieve a return on their investment whilst creating jobs and a sustainable mixed community.

The Partnership will provide a powerful single voice for the Commercial District, promoting the remarkable changes and improvement in the quality of both its public realm and its residential and commercial provision. It will provide a forum for stakeholders to work together to identify investment opportunities and develop the area more effectively by fostering a culture of enlightened self interest.
